To optimize or improve the screen resolution for viewing in Windows 98 or Windows 2000, do the following:

Click on START in the lower left corner of your screen

Click on SETTINGS on the pop-up menu

Click on CONTROL PANEL on the next pop-up menu

Double-click on DISPLAY

Click on folder tab that says SETTINGS

A window that says "Display Properties" will pop up with a small picture of a monitor. You will see a horizontal scale and small sliding tab in the lower right portion of this window that says "Screen Size". Put your mouse pointer on the small tab.  Left click the mouse button and hold it down while sliding the arrow to the right, to where the resolution shows as being 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024. Click APPLY. Or you can just left click the mouse on the hash marks to the right of the little tab on the scale.

The screen will blank out momentarily, and when it returns, click "KEEP SETTINGS". You can always repeat this procedure at any time and return to your original display resolution if you wish.

If you are using Windows Me or Windows XP, the procedure is:

Click on START in the lower left corner of your screen

Cick on CONTROL PANEL on the pop-up menu

On the next pop-up menu, where it asks you to "Pick a Category, choose APPEARANCE and THEMES

On the next pop-up menu, where it asks you to "Pick a Task", click SCREEN RESOLUTION

A window will pop-up with a small picture of a monitor.  In the lower left of this is a small sliding scale that says "Screen Resolution".  Left click the mouse on the little marker and hold the mouse button down while sliding the little marker until you get the screen resolutions mentioned:  either 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024.  Or click the mouse on the hash marks to the right of the little tab on that "Screen Resolution" scale.  The tab will move to where you click, changing the screen resolution in the process. Then click on APPLY and then KEEP SETTINGS.
